Mrs. Peggy Moore To All Instructors
Peggy Moore received her BA in Education from USF in the 80's. Also interested in health, she entered the Public Health Master's program and began teaching corporate and community health classes through St. Joseph Hospital. Peggy enjoyed her full time career as health educator for 10 years until setting it aside to become a full time mother of three.
Always wanting to volunteer or work part time in her children's school, Peggy was trained ,while living in California, by a private Christian school's psychiatrist. There she tutored students with ADD and basic processing challenges until moving back to Tampa the following year. Peggy became particularly interested in LD interventions when her son, who had always suffered through school, was diagnosed with a processing disorder. "My compassion goes out to parents whose bright child does not reflect their potential in the classroom and to the child who needs to know they're not 'dumb'."
Peggy was a reading tutor with Tampa Covenant Homeschool while her youngest daughter attended there from 7th through 12th. She also tutored students for SAT/ACT prep. Finally, as an empty nester, Peggy was called by a friend in administration at Cambridge Christian to step in as a middle school Literature teacher. "I absolutely loved the Socratic discourse of adolescents while they grappled with a metaphor or author's theme and relate it to their own lives...Or found an enjoyment in reading never before experienced." While teaching Literature, Peggy heard of the school's educational therapy program. She went through the certification course and became a licensed educational therapist. " It was very rewarding to work with students one-on-one and see impact in a variety of processing challenges."
Peggy now limits her work to part time and enjoys being available as grandma/babysitter, prayer group leader and visiting her adult children. "I thank God for His hand on my children's lives and it would be a privilege to work with the children of Academy at the Creek.
